After 27 years in the pet food industry, it has been obvious that proper nutrition is the keystone to health of our critters. Pet food manufacturers have come a long way to improve nutrition in pet foods since I began and I have dedicated myself to making sure that the ingredients I recommend are the best possibly sourced. The use of wheat, corn and soy have been removed from most foods due to creating allergies and adding too many unnecessary carbohydrates. Knowing and understanding labels is critical to choosing a proper diet as they are very misleading. The offerings from small , independent manufacturers has improved diets immensely. They have been using more locally sourced ingredients, lower temperature processing and testing of each batch of food. We have also seen an increase in grain free, freeze dried and raw diets that add more nutrients.
